Can I use Windows Explorer to copy and paste TestSuite tests from one computer to another?

QUESTION

Can I use Windows Explorer to copy and paste TestSuite tests from one computer to another?

ANSWER

Copying TestSuite projects and tests using Windows Explorer can be performed if done properly but is not recommended because it can easily disrupt the structure of the test. In order to manage the project structure efficiently and to facilitate language translation, TestSuite maps external filenames (what the user sees and names them) to internal filenames (what TestSuite software operates on) in a hidden/system file called “Desktop.ini”. This file would need to accompany the move. However, it also contains relative paths for other things such as folder icons.  When this reference is broken, Windows Explore doesn’t know how to display the information.  This can result in losing the display name of the project and test and leave only an internal name which is not useful for the user.
