ANSWER

A Long or Short DST Failure is a sign of hard disk failure.

“DST” stands for “Disk Self Test.” It refers to an analysis your computer hard drive performs on its own performance. If it cannot pass a self-test, it means that it is no longer capable of properly functioning.

If the computer can still boot, the operator should back up any user file directories as soon as possible and replace the hard drive.   If Windows will not boot try removing the hard drive and use an external USB reader to see if the files can be read and copied to another computer.
