How do you add a digital output in TestSuite to send a digital output signal to an external device?
First you must add a digital output to the station configuration. To do this open Station Builder from:
Start > All Programs > MTS 793 Software > Station Builder
Click on Digital Outputs and use the + button next to Output Hardware Resources under the Hardware tab to add a digital output. If you don’t see any then you have either utilized all the resources already or you don’t have the hardware in your controller to support a digital output (Figure 1).

Switch to user level Configuration from your user level drop-down menu in the main Station Manager window. The default password is Configuration with a capital C.
Go to the Tools menu in Station Manager and open the Even Action Editor.
Click on Digital Output under the Define Actions tab and use the Add button to add a digital output as an action and define its parameters (Figure 2).

Click on the Action List tab and use the right double arrow button >> to add the digital output to your Included action list (Figure 3).

Exit the Event Action Editor and change back to user level Operator.
Open your TestSuite application and connect with your station from the Controller menu if it doesn’t automatically connect. Once connected go to the Resources tab and select Import All Unused Controller Resources under the Import Resources… tab to add your digital output action and digital output to your Action and Digital Output lists respectively (Figure 4). Alternatively, you can choose Import the selected controller resources… from under the Import Resources… tab and add them by themselves.

You can trigger a digital output to happen by adding an activity such as a Limit Detection process that has an Action list that you can choose a digital output action from if the process is triggered (Figure 5).

You can also add a Set Digital Output process anywhere in the test flow to trigger a digital output when that process is reached (Figure 6).

Set Digital Output Activity Overview
Set Digital Output Activity Icon
The Set Digital Output activity specifies how the digital output is set. State can be Off or On. Toggle will set the digital output to the state it is not currently in. Pulse will set the digital output to the state it is not currently in, wait the amount of time indicated in the Pulse Width column, and then set the output back to the state it was in when the activity started. The state of the digital output is set when the procedure moves to that activity. The digital output remains at that state specified unless it is changed by another instance of a Set Digital Output activity.
If you want an operator to interactively monitor digital output during a test run, you can configure a Digital IO test-run display.
