QUESTION
How do I connect a chiller to power on when I turn on my HPU?
ANSWER
505.90 G1
To connect a chiller to the 505.90 you can use the following dry contacts for the supply power:
On the G1 you will connect to Terminal Block 1 (TB1), Contacts 1 (in) and 2 (out) (Figure 1). Electrical Schematic MTS Material # 700-000-326
Figure 1 - 505.90 G1 Dry Contacts TB1 1 (in) and TB1 2 (out)
505.30 G2
Your HPU uses a programmable logic controller (PLC). The PLC contacts will close when you turn on the HPU providing voltage to the auxiliary output contact which can be used to power on a chiller. These are dry contacts and require an external power supply going to the input side of the set of contacts.
Use Terminal Block TB2 Contacts JB (in) and JA (out) (Figure 1). They are located on the starter assembly panel (Figure 2). Close up shown (Figure 4). This set of dry contacts has maximum ratings of 120VAC, 48VDC, and 2 Amps per the electrical schematic specifications. If your chiller requires more than the allowable supply voltage or current, you may need to use the dry contacts to power a low current relay to close another circuit to supply the chiller with power.

505.60 through 505.180 G2
On the G2 you will use Terminal Block 2 (TB2), Contacts 1D (in) and 1C (out) (Figure 2). Electrical Schematic MTS Material # 700-004-936
Your HPU uses a programmable logic controller (PLC). The PLC contacts will close when you turn on the HPU providing voltage to the auxiliary output contact which can be used to power on a chiller. These are dry contacts and require an external power supply going to the input side of the set of contacts.

515 HPUs
The aux connections for the 515 are on page 31 of the electrical schematic (Figure 3). There are 2 standard cold contact connections: ON/OFF and ON/OFF or temperature selectable. If you want the HPU to source 24V then you will need the “air cooler option”. There are two air cooler configurations: On/OFF and temperature.
FOLO = first on/last off.
